Sugarloaf Reservoir Park, Fishing & Walk Map, Victoria

Bring your entire family to the Sugarloaf Reservoir Park for a fun-filled day out. Try some shoreline fishing and take home some of the finest varieties of rainbow trout and cook your fresh catch at the BBQ facilities located at the nearby picnic grounds. Shoreline fishing is only allowed in designated areas during park hours and make sure you have purchased a Recreational Fishing Licence.

The Saddle Dam Picnic Area is a popular location for families to relax and have a quiet lunch where you will find plenty of picnic tables and a toilet block. Unfortunately, there are no BBQ facilities at Saddle Dam. Other picnic spots are the Ridge Picnic Area which has picnic tables, BBQ facilities and toilets, and Ironbark Ridge picnic area which has two double hotplate gas barbecues under shelter.

There are also a number of scenic lookouts located nearby including Southern Lookout and Western Lookout. If you are interested in going for a walk, then take a walk along one of the tracks in and around the park including the ironbark, Chris Phillips and Sugarloaf Walking Tracks. The Chris Phillips walk is on the western side of the park, accessible from either the Ridge or Saddle Dam picnic areas.

  • Hi there, I went to have a look today and there are plenty of signs that say you can only fish in designated areas and what you can do can’t do. But I could not find any signs to let me know where these designated areas are. Can you please let me know.

    • Hi David, thanks for getting in touch.

Very frustrating to hear that Parks Victoria have not erected any signage for guidance at the actual dam. Thanks for letting me know.

After doing a bit of digging on the Parks Victoria, Agriculture Victoria and a number of fishing sites, it seems you will be safe to fish at Saddle Dam Park which is on the south of the dam (along Simpson Road). I cannot find any other information I would trust about fishing in other locations.

I hope this assists and you have a great time fishing at Sugarloaf Reservoir!

      Regards,
      Jess
